Request for Deferral or Accommodations

Deferral

You may postpone or defer your jury service once per year for up to ninety (90) days by emailing jury.courts@trinitycounty.org, calling (530) 623-1201, or submitting your request online .

Excuse

Requests to be excused from jury service must be submitted in writing via mail or email. These requests must be supported with facts specifying the hardship and why the hardship cannot be avoided by deferring jury service to another date.

Physician's Statement

If you are requesting a postponement or excuse due to a medical reason that would expose you to undue risk of mental or physical harm, and you are under age 70, you must submit a physician's statement verifying your inability to serve as a juror and the probable duration of your disability or impairment. Statements may be submitted via email, fax, or mail.

Financial Hardship/Religious Beliefs

Requests for an excuse based on financial hardship or religious beliefs must be made to the court during the jury selection process and will not be considered by the Jury Commissioner.
